What is Cybersecurity Performance Management?

Gartner’s official definition of Cybersecurity Performance Management is “continual assessment of the cybersecurity function or individual programs and the planning of strategic and business-aligned approaches to driving improved cybersecurity performance based on defined goals and business outcomes.”

Basically, Cybersecurity Performance Management encompasses an ongoing process in which cybersecurity professionals and IT teams measure an organization’s security infrastructure against current security risks and threat levels. Wherever weaknesses are found, it is the Cybersecurity Performance Management team's responsibility to find the right tools and solutions to strengthen protection in order to protect company and customer data as well as comply with regulatory requirements.
